孔雀泛指孔雀屬內的二種鳥類，屬雞形目、雉科，又名越鳥、南客。公孔雀有十分華麗的羽毛，尾巴羽毛開展可視為求偶的動作，公孔雀英文稱為Peacock，母孔雀稱為Peahen，但有時候大家也通稱母孔雀為
”Peacock”或是”Female Peacock”，母孔雀顏色較暗，偏棕色或灰棕色。
孔雀屬的二種孔雀為
藍孔雀(Pavo cristatus)
綠孔雀(Pavo muticus)，藍孔雀又名印度孔雀，雄鳥羽毛為寶藍色，富有金屬光澤，分布在印度和斯里蘭卡，藍孔雀為印度國鳥以及巴基斯坦旁遮普省的省鳥。藍孔雀還有白孔雀和黑孔雀兩種變異種。綠孔雀分佈於緬甸到爪哇一帶，國際自然保護聯盟將綠孔雀列為易危至瀕危物種，因為其自然棲地銳減以及遭到大量捕殺。

The Indian Peafowl is a resident breeder in the Indian subcontinent. The peacock is designated as the national bird of India and the provincial bird of the Punjab (Pakistan).
The Green Peafowl breeds from Burma east to Java. The IUCN lists the Green Peafowl as vulnerable to extinction due to hunting and a reduction in extent and quality of habitat.

〈紅腹錦雞〉Golden Pheasant
金雞原產於青海、陜西、四川、雲南、貴州等地，尤其以陜山寶雞附近的秦嶺山脈最多，寶雞地名即是由於盛產金雞之故。雄金雞，通體彩色斑斕，金光閃閃、富貴吉祥。

Golden pheasant, native to Ching hai, Shansi, Szuchuan, Yennan, Gueichow, etc. Especially, most are found in the vicinity of Chingling mountain range near Suansan & Baoji. Baoji (Treasure fowl) named after the golden pheasant, because the town produces many golden pheasants. The male one, whose whole body is covered with brilliant golden color, symbolizes wealth nobility & good luck.

Wild Green Fowl
綠野雞係原始雞，是家雞的祖先，生長於熱帶雨林之中，個性羞怯，雄雞性情兇猛，有地域性，雞冠呈扁圓型，無家雞缺刻，呈紅、紫、藍色，本對綠野雞係從爪哇進口，十分珍貴。

Wild Green Fowl, originally was a fowl which is the ancestor of domestic chicken. It inhabits in tropical rain jungle. It is shy, but the male birds are ferocious with territorial sense. The combs are red, purple, blue, flat-rounded, with no indentions. This pair were precious imported from Java.

Ampherst's Pheasant
銀雞，原產於西藏、四川、雲南、貴州等地，雄鳥的頭、頂背、胸等均為金屬光澤的墨綠色，頭上有一絡紅色冠羽，腹部銀白色，長尾銀黑相間，本省純種銀雞極為少見。

Ampherst's pheasant, native to Tibet, Szuchuan, Yennan Gueichow, etc. The head, upper back & breast of a male are golden brilliant sapphire blue. There's a tuft of red crest on the head. Belly, silvery white and, The long tail, white & black in alternate order. Pure breed is rarely seen in Taiwan.

Ring-necked Pheasant
環頸雉，俗稱雉雞，自公元1300年起，陸續由原產地中國、韓國及蘇聯東部引入世界各地，在歐洲如英國等，係重要的狩獵鳥，羽色斑斕華麗，本館所飼養的為來自韓國的高麗環頸雉。

Ring-necked Pheasant, also called pheasant. Ever since 1300, it has been introduced to many parts of the world from China, Korea & the east of Soviet Russia. In England, it is an important bird for hunting. The plumage is gorgeous & resplendent. This one weraise here originally came from Korea.
